Before I started to create the Yngve's garden (1994 - 95) on the ground, I tried to make over the house balcony to the flourished patio. There were an old white table partly of plastic and white plastick chairs which I did not like but it would be expensive to change them. It was left only to find or buy some pots and urns to plant some flowers. We bought some plastic urns very cheap and I found some pots on the backyard as well. It was not elegant but better than nothing.
Innan jag började anlägga trädgård på Yngves tomt (1994 - 95), tänkte jag att det vore bra att ordna en behagligare uteplats på balkongen som han kallade för däcket. Där fanns redan vita plastmöbler som jag inte tyckte om men Yngve tyckte de var OK och att köpa nya vore det dyrt. Det åtestod bara att hitta eller köpa krukor och urnor och plantera blommor som jag sådde själv. Vi lyckades att köpa vita urnor på rea till 10 kr styck och jag hittade några plastkrukor på hans tomt. Det var inte särskilt elegant men bättre än ingenting!

All pots I've got hold of I put directly on the floor, only one on the table. I sowed climbing
Phaseolus coccineus which gave nice foliage and some flowers as well against the wall.
Alla krukor och urnor jag fick tag i stod på golvet utom en på bordet - och väggen fick klädsel av blomsterbönan.
Nemesia strumosa (above) was one of the first I sowed and discovered as a nice summer flower. On the table there is also a funny tomato from a new built hobby greenhouse. August 1995.

Already the next year after I started The Balcony was not to recognize! Yngve has built 3 wooden containers (see the smaller pic above right) and I sowed Ricinus communis 'Gibsonii' and again climbing Phaseolus coccineus among many other summer flowers. August 1996.
Redan året därpå var däcket svårt att känna igen. Yngve tillverkade 3 fina trälådor till blommor (se mindre bilden ovan till höger) och jag sådde ricinus Gibsonii och igen this år klättrande prydnads böna bland många andra sommarblommor. Augusti 1996.

Above: North-Swedish sort of potatoes - the almond potatoes, very good and grown by myself I put on the table on The Balcony. I grew some vegetables in the garden as well. On The Balcony my yields were often consumed or at least admired. It was only a half of yeld from only one potato plant!.
Ovan: På bordet på balkongen ligger mandelpotatis jag odlade i trädgården, knapt några buskar. Detta är bara hälften av knölar från bara en potatis planta! Dessutom var de ovanligt tidiga detta år.

Left and below: Yngve has built this trellis connected to the balcony rail for the Russian Wine
(Polygonum eller Fallopia baldschuanicum) planted beneath balcony not very long ago - and it exceeded everything what was to exceede and conqueeded the TV-antenna entirely on its way to the roof! The plant climbed the next years on the roof top but suddenly died one of the next years.
Ovan och nedan: Yngve byggde sort av spaljé ansluted till balkongräcke för Bokharabinda som var planterad under balkongen inte så länge sedan. Men plantan växte kolossalt snabbt och erövrade både spaljén och TV-antenn på väg till tacket, där den klättrade i nästa åren nästan till toppen. And plötsligt dog bokharabinda, men jag minns inte vilket år.
Right: The Fuchsia does not like much sun and thrives very well in half shadow just beneath the balcony rail.
Höger: Halvskugga och silad ljus under balkongsräcket är perfekt för fuchsior, nota bene för de flesta växter!
